Research shows that students at all levels of education who learn the Transcendental Meditation Programme improve their academic performance. Fox example, at the elementary school level, this study found improvement in academic skills. During one school year, students in the United States at Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment who practiced the Transcendental Meditation Programme showed significant gains in mathematics and reading performance, as measured by a nationally standardized test of basic skills.
At the post secondary level, research shows improved college grades that is, better examination results. This study found that university students who learned the practice of Transcendental Meditation, showed higher grades in their academic courses over the following three semesters in contrast who had not yet learned the practice.
Another study found improved postgraduate academic performance. Masters degree students in engineering in England who learned the Transcendental Meditation Technique showed improved performance on their standard examinations after six months, when compared to other students in the same program of study.
At whatever age students learn the Transcendental Meditation Technique, their greater wakefulness, clarity of mind, and receptivity to knowledge naturally results in better academic success.
