DDE
Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) of MMYVV was established in year 2006 with MMYVV objective to ‘reach the un-reached’ and provide benefit of higher education to deserving students of semi-rural and rural areas and perspective students who don’t have time and finances for full time courses. DDE is situated at Lamti, Vijay Nagar, Jabalpur. Distance Education Council vide letter No. DEC/recog/MMYogi/2006/844 dated 15-11-2006 has issued NOC to conduct under mentioned courses.
Excellent network of students support exists. Students can choose their own pace and place of learning. In addition of Self Instructional Material (SIM) for study, benefit of library, viewing of video aids and interaction with counselor and other students at study centres is arranged. While MMYVV has started preparing its own study material and already published SIMs for many courses, it has also obtained sanction of Distance Education Council to utilize IGNOU study material during the interim period. Minimum pass percentage of marks qualifies for admission to any of the Distance Educations courses offered without need to appear for entrance examination (recently IGNOU has made entrance exam mandatory for some courses). Those who have discontinued studies to take up jobs/marriage etc. can join back their studies now. The MMYVV, being a recognized university, will conduct its own examinations and award degrees approved and recognized by the University Grants Commission.
Distance Learning Overview
Distance Education (DE), distance learning or online learning, is a field of education that focuses on the pedagogy, technology, and instructional systems design that aim to deliver education to students who are not physically “on site”. Distance learning courses that require a physical on-site presence for any reason including the taking of examinations is considered to be a hybrid or blended course of study.
Many teachers feel the opportunities offered by distance learning outweigh the obstacles. In fact, instructors often comment that the focused preparation required by distance teaching improves their overall teaching and empathy for their students. Through Distance learning they can:
- Reach a wider student audience
- Provide opportunity to students who are unable to attend on-campus classes
- Involve outside speakers who would otherwise be unavailable
- Link students from different social, cultural, economic, and experiential backgrounds
Those students who are unable to complete the programme within the specified validity period are required to register themselves afresh through readmission by paying the requisite fee as per the University regulations.
